Optimizing Wireless Network based on Building Design in Telkom University

Computer network designed according to its functions and building design which must be analyzed consider usage intensity maintenance. This paper’s study case is in one of the buildings University at Bandung uses fiber optic wireless for both 2,4GHz 5GHz frequencies. Existing conditions were tested site surveys are high frequency interference signals, misconfigured channel bands caused frequent disconnections close two different access points, there blank spots causing user’s devices cannot properly connect network. Wireless optimization needs done solve problems. Method used Network Development Life Cycle (NDLC) consists Analysis, Design, Simulation Prototyping phases, performance measurements using Quality Service (QoS) parameters. Site survey results showed many areas by misconfiguration each point that same can adjacent misplacing wall-mounted points on ceiling interfering upper floor lower networks. QoS match TIPHON Standardization throughput higher than 1kbps, packet loss 3%, delay 150ms. Recommendation optimizing configuring band non-overlapping configuration (1-6-11) all simulation replacing placed a ceiling-mounted type point. It decreasing entire network, whether or between floor.
